I.General Information

The campus of Jinling Institute of Technology (JIT) is situated in Nanjing, an ancient known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. JIT offers full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses in advanced science and technological fields. The university structures itself upon the strategic research of the reform pilot of the Ministry of Education on application-oriented universities of science and technology. The university is the founding unit of the Association of Universities (Colleges) of Applied Science and chairs the Alliance of Applied Undergraduate Universities in the Yangtze River Delta Region. In 2021, JIT was approved as a master’s degree awarding institution. Its predecessor was Jinling Polytechnic University, which was founded in 1980 as the first vocational university in China, and Nanjing Agricultural College, which was founded in 1958 and rebuilt in 1984. In June 2002, approved by the Ministry of Education, Jiangsu Provincial Government and Nanjing Municipal Government, Jinling Polytechnic University, and Nanjing Agricultural College merged to prepare for the establishment of Jinling Institute of Technology, which was formally established in March 2005.

JIT has 3 campuses: Jiangning campus, Mufu campus and Baixia campus.The main campus is located in Jiangning University City, covering a total area of 1,016,400 square meters. Currently, the university comprises 20 secondary colleges (departments), catering to over 20,000 full-time undergraduates, approximately 100 of whom are engaged in postgraduate studies. These students are supported by nearly 1,300 full-time faculties.

JIT attaches great importance to foreign exchange and cooperation, and actively cooperates with offshore universities in promoting the reform of education and teaching. Since 1995, JIT has been cooperating with universities in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France, Austria, Holland, USA, UK, Russia, Taiwan (China) and Macao (China). Currently, JIT has four Chinese-Foreign Cooperatively-run programs approved by the Ministry of Education, including JIT-SUNY (USA) Horticulture (Biotechnology), JIT-QUT (Australia) Software Engineering, JIT-DMU (UK) Telecommunication Engineering, and JIT-GCU (UK) Civil Engineering.

II.Application Requirements

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens holding foreign passports.

2. Willingness to abide by the laws, regulations, and rules of China, showing a friendly attitude towards China, and having a clean disciplinary record without any legal or disciplinary punishments.

Undergraduate:

1. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (equivalent to the educational level of six years of Chinese middle school).

2. Language Requirements:

(1) For Chinese-instruction programs, applicants should have HSK 4 or above certificate.

(2) For English-instruction programs, applicants must have IELTS 5.5 or above, IBT 75 or above or other equivalent English proficiency certificate, if the pre-courses use English as the medium of instruction, the above certificate of English proficiency is not required, but the applicants whose native language is not English shall provide relevant proof that the teaching language is English.

3. Applicants should be over 18 years old but not over 28 years old, and in good physical and mental health. For students under 18 years old whose parents do not reside permanently in China, a formal authorization letter from the parents is required.

Postgraduate:

1. Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification; recent graduates must meet the conditions for graduation and degree conferral.

2. For Chinese-instruction programs, applicants should have HSK Level 4 (180 points) or above certificate.

3. Applicants should be over 18 years old but not over 32 years old.

Ⅳ.Application Materials

1. Passport (must be a regular passport valid for at least three months after enrollment)photo, including the passport's main page and residence permit page.

2. Proof of Highest Educational Attainment. For current students, a certificate of enrollment and an expected graduation certificate issued by the current institution are required.

3. Academic transcript for the highest educational attainment. For current students, an academic transcript stamped by the academic affairs department or signed by the department head is necessary.

4. Resume (continuous learning experience since undergraduate, and all learning experience shall be provided for those who have a learning experience in China);

5. Study plan (about 500 words for undergraduate applications and 800 words for graduate applications, in Chinese or English).

6. Chinese/English language proficiency certificate.

7. Applicants to the undergraduate program are not required to provide letters of recommendation; applicants to the graduate program are required to provide two letters of recommendation. The experts are professors or associate professors (or experts with equivalent professional and technical titles) in the field of specialization applied for, and the letters of recommendation are in Chinese or English.

8. The valid Foreigners Physical Examination Form(Appendix 1) within 6 months, which should be carried with you when you come to school;

9. Economic Guarantee(Appendix 2);

10. The certificate of no criminal record issued by the public security organ and the certificate of no school disciplinary record issued by the school (including students transferred from other schools in China);

11. Signed personal commitment(Appendix 3).

Note:

1. All certificates and certificates uploaded must be original or notarized in Chinese or English;

2. The format of the uploaded file must be the original color scanning copy;

3. Applicants must be responsible for the authenticity and completeness of the submitted materials. JIT will not accept any false or missing application materials. In case of special circumstances, JIT has the right to request the applicant to mail the original paper materials for further review and confirmation. The materials will not be returned regardless of the final admission.

April 15, 2024 – June 30, 2024

VI.Application Method

Complete the online application of JIT International Student Registration System（https://jit.at0086.cn/student）and pay the registration fee of RMB 300 yuan to JIT’s remittance account. The registration fee is not refundable.

VII.Scholarships

To support outstanding international students to study for master’s degrees, JIT provides scholarships and grants for outstanding international students. International students who apply to study at JIT have the opportunity to apply for Nanjing Municipal Government Scholarship for Foreign Students, as well as JIT’s Freshman Scholarship, and Academic scholarship. Specific application requirements and assessment criteria are based on the current year's documents.

1. Nanjing Municipal Government Scholarship for Foreign Students:

10,000 yuan/academic year for undergraduates and 20,000 yuan/academic year for postgraduates (available for application every year).

2. Jinling Institute of Technology Scholarships:

Freshman Scholarship and Academic Scholarship (the GPA of all international students of the same major in the previous academic year is calculated and ranked, and awarded according to grades), as shown in the table below.

Notes: In the event of transferring to another institution or withdrawal from the program due to personal reasons, the recipient is obligated to refund the entire scholarship subsidy already received.

Ⅸ.Application and Admission Process

1. Eligible applicants should log in to the JIT International Student Online Application System to submit their applications.

2. Preliminary Review by the University: The university will conduct an initial review and may request additional documents based on individual cases.

3. Qualified applicants will participate in a university interview. The specific assessment methods will be notified separately.

4. Based on the interview results, JIT will announce the list of candidates for admission. Applicants can check the admission results through the online application system, receive and verify the pre-admission notice.

5. Confirmed admitted students must pay the enrollment deposit within the specified time (exact dates will be stated in the pre-admission notice). Failure to pay within the stipulated period will be considered as forfeiting the admission

6. The university will  issue the Notice of Enrollment and process the "Visa Application for Study in China" (JW202 Form) for students who have paid the enrollment deposit.

7. Admitted students must submit the relevant documents, including the "Visa Application for Study in China" (JW202 Form), to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate for applying for a study visa to China.

8. New students must report to the university at the specified time (exact dates stated in the admission notice). Failure to register without a valid reason within the designated period will result in automatic withdrawal (the enrollment deposit will not be refunded).
